It was nice to walk close to the sea at this point because we knew that later on we would be spending a lot of time in built-up areas as the route passed through the towns of Leven, Methil and Buckhaven. The built up nature of these areas meant we would be spending a lot of time 'pavement walking'. Here on the coast with a salty tang in the air, the wind in our hair and sparse bursts of sun on our faces, urban living was a long way off.
Although weary, it did not stop us lifting our heads to the Lothian shores across the River Forth or for our thoughts to turn to finally crossing the Forth Bridge which we knew was only ‘round the corner’, but tantalisingly out of view!
