'The time has come,' the Walrus said, to talk of many things.....

For those of you who are interested in the breakdown of the forthcoming adventure in the west country, I have put up the details on the website and they can be seen on the page  'Stages of the Walk'.

The adventure will last over sixty days and will cover over six hundred miles of walking. Of the sixty odd days, eight will be rest days, approximately one every seven days, with two rest days in St Ives at roughly our half-way mark.  We have still to confirm exactly where we will finish but it will certainly be at one of the two Severn Bridges. Finishing there will give me a good jump off point to start in on the Welsh Coast Path which I hope to complete next.

We are camping for the majority of the trip, but by necessity and because we are getting too old for wild camping, when there have been no camp sites available we have taken advantage of some kind of B&B. Oh, and at least one of the campsites is of the naturist persuasion but we will keep that to ourselves and the camera will stay in the rucksack that day.

I look forward to your company (and your comments) on the journey.

With only two weeks to go until I start back at my coastal adventure the feet are itchy and the enthusiasm is high. First off is a six hunded mile walk that includes the majority of the south west coast path. Some of you will remember that I walked over one hundred miles of the path towards the end of last year as part of a previous adventure, finishing up in Sidmouth, South Devon. Starting back there this year the aim is to complete the path to Minehead and then to carry it on for another week as far as the Severn Bridge, so that I am well positioned for starting back on the Welsh Coast Path after a short break.

After finishing at the Severn, I am going home for a week and intend returning to start out on the nine hundred miles of the Welsh Coast Path. The intention is to try and complete that this year. I will need to take another short break to attend a wedding, but apart from that Wales is to be my summer and Autumn. If I am successful, it will leave me with the top part of the west coast of England to complete before I am back on Scottish soil.

Here's hoping for a good season's walking.
