We had our first evening meal in Tenby in the Buddha Buddha, a traditional Indian restaurant on the high street where the food and the service was very good. Our second major meal we had at The Mooring, a small but friendly and upmarket restaurant where the food was very tasty and freshly prepared.
Calling it a 'day off' seems to me to give the wrong impression about what is usually a pretty busy day. It is a day when the washing needs to be done and, somehow, dried for setting off the next day. Any equipment failures or lack thereof need to be amended and there is usually a shopping thrown in there somewhere either to feed ourselves in our accommodation or in prepartion for the next leg of the adventure. In between all that there is usually an hour or two with the 'Guardian', sitting in some nice, preferably warm hostelry where there is an endless supply of tea, coffee and cake. Usually there are a couple of visits to nice restaurants, jusr to restore a sense of conviviality and sociability. It always surprises that when we stop walking the engine keeps running and we seem to need to be constantly eating. We had our first evening meal in Tenby in the Buddha Buddha, a traditional Indian restaurant on the high street where the food and the service was very good. Our second major meal we had at The Mooring, a small but friendly and upmarket restaurant where the food was very tasty and freshly prepared. In the course of a walk round the town, Joanna and James spied a gin house and, of course, there was no way I was going to convince them to pass it by. I thought we were just going in for a look around, but I should have known better. Before you could say 'mother's ruin', the two of them had signed up for a gin tasting session in the back shop. Two giggling hours later, I was able to convince them it was time to go home. I hasten to add that after the gin tasting there was still time to see some of the other attractions of Tenby including the castle, art gallery and museum and one or two of the other private galleries before going home and collapsing on the bed. Mother's Ruin Today was our last day in James's company as he leaves to visit friends in London and Glasgow before returning to Australia. His trip had been arranged at the last minute and with more time to arrange things he would have been happy to spend a lot longer walking with us. Perhaps next year, by which time we hope to be walking in or close the west coast of Scotland. For me and Joanna tomorrow is another walking day as we set off from Tenby heading for Freshwater East. "Bon Voyage', James!
