After what passed for lunch we set off to go back through the village and continue round the bay towards Saundersfoot amd Tenby. The village of Amroth was first settled about 2,000 BC and was subsequently visited by the Romans who built a villa in the vicinity. As noted earlier, the area was also settled during the Neolithic and the Iron Age.
Just below the location of the New Inn, we passed the mile marker for the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, which was a nice photo opportunity for James (Llandudoch St Dogmaels 186 miles). While James will finish his walking at Tenby, Joanna will complete the Pembroke Path going on to to Aberystwyth, while I will finish the rest of the Wales Coast Path.
Carrying on along the seafront, we passed the site of the 12thC Amroth Castle of which only some remains of original gatehouse still exist. The castle on the site is of more recent origin.
Our Airbnb accommodation was very close to the town centre and easily found. For now, we looked forward to a shower, a shower, dry clothes, rest and then a hot meal. We have a day off tomorrow to enjoy the delights that Tenby has to offer and an opportunity to rest up and recover before tackling the rest of Wales!
