After a few days on Vancouver Island, we flew back to the mainland by seaplane, quite an adventure. The next day we left on the 19-hour Via train journey from Vancouver in British Columbia to Jasper in Alberta. Although it sounds like a long journey, it is a magical one with stunning late evening and early morning views of the Rockies and it's lakes and forests. The train was much better than we expected with very good dinner and full breakfast provided in the price. There was an endless supply of free hot and cold drinks and snacks, including a glass of bubbly for those who wanted it. Our seats converted into spacious single beds, all done by a very attractive attendant by the name of Coleen. In the viewing car the opportunities to capture the scenery were endless, with panorama after panorama. We are settled into Jasper now, with a cable car ride planned for tomorrow morning and then a short hike in the mountains in preparation for our real Rockies adventure at the end of the week.
