I've said it before and now say it again, sometimes the Gods are not with you. Just after we went to bed last night the rain started and it beat a tattoo on the canvas most of the night. Knowing the weather forecast we had changed our plans for today and booked in to a place called the Piggery Poke Hostel. We had a late start about 10.30am because we were catching the bus back to Poppet Sands and hoped to lay on a bit longer. The rain eased about 8.00on and we decided to try and pack up early while it was off. No sooner did we have everything out and on the ground sheets and the tent empty and ready to collapse than the heavens opened and torrential rain fell. Everything was soaked. Fortunately, the ladies on the next pitch let us drag stuff under their shelter or it would all have been drookit. As it was, we had no option but to pack the gear wet and hope to dry it at the other end.
After catching the bus back to where we had walked from yesterday, it was already 11.15am and another late finish was on the cards. We had a walk either on the road or just off it to St., Dogmael's which is where the Pembrokeshire Coast Path starts / finishes. On the bus journey there had been mist in all directions and we started walking Wales the and with full waterproofs on. As we walked it became brighter, brighter and warmer and pretty soon we were melting in hot sunshine.
