With the weather forecast for the next week not very good, I have made some changes to my itinerary to limit my exposure to the elements. The first change is that I am staying in my current location for an extra day. This means that tomorrow I take the train forward to the village of Penychain on the Lleyn Peninsula and walk from there back to Penrhyndeudraeth. It means I can be indoors at night when further heavy rain is forecast, with an option to dry clothing if needs be. I have also emailed a campsite I am due to be staying in three days time, to enquire about a Yurt for the night. Again, as rain is forecast over the next three days this will provide an opportunity to dry out clothes and equipment.
Leaving the railway station you are immediately on to the route back down to the coast, just a quick turn left on to a minor road that goes over the railway bridge before downgrading to a track. Looking back just after the bridge there was a nice view of the green hills that run at the back of the village. The track runs down to the foreshore with options whether you are going north or south. At a junction in the path I turned right to come on to the beach at Pant-yr-aur, then turning left to head south, back towards Porthmadog. I hoped this would take at least a kilometre off of my walk tomorrow. Heading along the sand and gravel beach to the headland at Peny-ychain it was nice walking with lovely views out along the length of the Lleyn Peninsula.
