Millets camping shop were able to supply all my needs including more gas for the Jetboil and camping meals. As I was buying the meals, the young chap behind the counter began to explain to me in great detail the nutritional makeup of the foods I was buying. Despite my numerous City & Guilds in catering he completely lost me when he started to talk about joules as units of energy and the differing capacities of the meals to meet my requirements.
Leaving the camping shop the rain was off and I was hopeful of getting to Portmeirion but on the way back to the town centre the heavens opened. In only a couple of minutes I was soaked through and sought refuge in a local cafe. After lunch the rain was still pelting it down and I made my way to the railway station and returned to Penrhyndeudraeth. The rain continued to fall and I only ventured out later to post back home some equipment I was no longer using. Fortunately, I was in good accommodation with a lounge all to myself and I was able to spread out my maps and confirm the pros and cons of my routes over the next week on the Lleyn Peninsula.
