Today we travel to Swansea (via Edinburgh and Crewe), overnighting in Swansea before catching an early train to Gowarton for our first fifteen mile walk to Burry Port. In Burry, my younger brother James, who has travelled over from Perth in Australia to join us for a week's walking, will be waiting to buy us dinner.
In total, I expect to be walking for about two months on this trip, hoping to finish by walking over the Hawarden Railway Bridge which would see me return to English soil having gone round the whole Welsh coast. The mileage I think will come in about the seven hundred mile mark, give or take a couple of miles, with a half-way stop at Aberystwyth where I will have two days off instead of the usual one. The pattern will generally be six days walking and camping, before a day off in B&B or some such abode to catch up with sleep and domestic duties.
I hope to be able to write something about the daily journeys, however, there will be areas where there is no or little signal and we will need to do some catching up. Strap in, sit back and enjoy the journey.
