While it was a very short day, with only four miles walked, it did not disappoint as we enjoyed some lovely walking on the low hills leading from Pen-clawdd to Gowerton. The added height provided us with the opportunity to enjoy some spectacular land and seascape perspectives that added joy and wonder to the day.
While there was a bit of pavement pounding leaving and arriving, we were grateful that we had taken the off-road route as the short hill section offered both delightful forest and open grassland walking. While staying on the road would have been shorter in terms of distance, we would have been the poorer for the decision such was the grandeur to be had walking the woods and grasslands. It is not an easy route because some of the signage is poor and we 'wandered in the wilderness' more than once. A quick consultation with the GPS and we were soon able to figure out what corner of the field we should be in to make progress.
And so another adventure comes to a conclusion. We are back home with some reluctance, struggling to get back in to the ordinary after enjoying the spectacular. But while there was reluctance and struggle, we were secure in the knowledge that before too long we will be back enjoying the upward and the downward slope of the coast again.
