All the sand replenishment equipment I had seen further up the coast yesterday was also present at St Leonard’s where one of the workers advised me they were held up waiting for the dredger to arrive. In the distance, outlined against a stormy looking sky, I could make out the long arm of a digger on the beach at Ingoldmells.
It was barely 1.00pm when I arrived and before heading for my digs I had a look around the seafront and funfair area, stopped for tea and cake and enjoyed chatting to some people on one of the benches where I stopped to enjoy the late arriving sun. It turned in to one of those afternoons that you regret later, but which seem such great fun at the time. You know the kind: oh! that looks nice, not had one of them in years; down goes the candy floss. Well, well, look at that. Candy apples, didn't know they still did them. Gosh, that hot dog smells nice. Its amazing what you can eat when there is no-one else there to stop you.
The walking had been easier than I had imagined and after dropping off my kit at the B&B I took myself off for a wee wander up the beach to scout out the route for the next stage and, of course, to walk off the afternoon's misdemeanors!
