When I looked out the window early this morning the rain was bouncing off the pavements, so I packed the small day bag accordingly. It was a very late start because of the train times with the first one not till nearly noon. By the time I arrived at the start point the sun was out and I walked in brilliant sunshine all day, carrying needless weight in the form of waterproofs
There was a walk on a track down to the foreshore where I walked behind the railway track. It was nice walking with lovely mountain views fore and aft. Weaving in and out, the route stayed down by the shore for about three miles before diverting inland again to go round a number of rivers and burns. This occasioned a long road walk to just beyond Bont Fech following which it was back down to the shore almost until I reached Porthmadog, with the occasional little village to go through. Before leaving I had bought food at the local Co-op and are it in the early afternoon sitting by the beach just before Criccieth, just me blue sky and endless sea.
It was a pleasing day as I managed to walk consistently at over three miles per hour for the whole eighteen miles and, albeit a little bit tired at the end, still felt quite good. The test of course will be when I walk on the morrow.
I have had problems with using the photos from my new phone but appear to have resolved them and hope to be able to show you some more of this beautiful land and seascape in the coming days.
